Advanced Mapping
Collective has embedded mapping technology from Navteq, giving the very latest street-level maps direct from their secure and robust servers. These are constantly updated and allow the user to view maps in 2 and 3 dimensions and with the option to include additional 'point of interest' information.
What is Advanced Mapping?
The 'Advanced Mapping' option provides the additional ability to present data from a client's own ESRI-based GIS servers, used by around half of all UK local authorities. Clients using other GIS technologies can easily export data to shapefile format to allow Collective to access their mapping data.
Connection Options
Advanced Mapping uses the ArcEngine software component from ESRI. This allows the mapping to be configured using the ESRI-standard .mxd file to connect to a wide variety of mapping sources, including local or networked shapefiles or ArcSDE via a network or web-service connection.
Mapping Options
Collective will display any mapping layers you configure, including basemaps, aerial images and any additional features you publish. The user can use the on-screen tools to turn on whichever layers they wish to access, zoom in and out and pan around the map exactly as they would in other ESRI-compatible applications.
Feature Synchronisation
Collective can link the Features in its database to the corresponding features in your ESRI GIS data and automatically update its records to match. Any changes to the GIS system (for example a change to the size of a grassed area or a new shrubbery) can be quickly and accurately synchronised, ensuring that your Collective feature data and associated schedules remain up to date.
