Bartec Systems Montage Leading waste industry software provider Bartec Systems has won a prestigious contract to implement cutting edge management systems which will facilitate the reduction, re-use and recycling of waste for clients of a leading supplier of pipes and fittings to the UK water and gas industry.

Using Bartec’s Waste Collector system, Derbyshire-based Uponor Ltd has implemented a recycling partnership scheme called SUPER, in conjunction with its blue-chip clients, to reclaim polyethylene (PE) waste, offcuts, fittings and lengths of pipe.

Uponor have a fleet of bins which they issue to users of their products using free space on the existing delivery vehicles.  The customers participate in the scheme by placing offcuts, fittings and other waste product into these bins - waste that would otherwise have formed part of the general site waste.  The bins are then returned to a reprocessing plant, the contents converted to pellets and reused.  The market value of the plastic is shared between Uponor and their clients.

Waste Collector adds a significant extra dimension.  By providing tight analysis of sites, customers, weights collected and dates, Uponor are able to provide their clients with detailed analysis of waste arisings at individual depots, allowing them to reduce wastage in the first place.

Gary Wain of Uponor said:

"Moving from the pilot stage into full implementation needed a high quality system, I am impressed with the simplicity of the Waste Collector system and the real-time data handling.  Bartec have understood our requirements and been able to tailor the system to suit. It will be great to move away from the paper-based pilot phase of the SUPER scheme"

Tim Hobbs, Managing Director of Bartec Systems, said:
"We are excited to be part of this innovative recycling scheme.  Waste Collector simplifies the administration and thus allows more of the product value to be returned to the producers.  Our analysis data will allow Uponor and their clients to work together to reduce waste at source, which is a win-win for all concerned.”
